Ms. Brinks attended Calvin College and Wayne State University Law School. She began her legal career in western Michigan as a judicial law clerk.

Ms. Brinks has published extensively and taught both attorneys and lay individuals in the areas of the firm's expertise. Ms. Brinks' love of travel has resulted in her leading several groups of attorneys and judges on international legal exchange programs.

Ms. Brinks has taken into her home and heart two teenage girls and has served as a founding board member of the National Legal Network for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing.  She also has served as an elder for her church, Forest Hills Presbyterian Church.

Ms. Brinks also serves the community as a Kentwood City Commissioner and Vice Chair of the local mass transit planning board.
